Try the booth before you book it

Almost every photo booth company in Boston asks you to book from a photo on a website. You send a deposit, and the first time you see the booth is when it rolls into your venue.

We are different, and it is the main reason people choose us. Memory Shop runs three walk-in photobooth studios: 230 Newbury Street in Boston, 34 John F. Kennedy Street in Harvard Square, and a third opening on Harvard Ave in Allston. Thousands of people use those booths every month.

The booth we bring to your event is the same equipment, the same Canon DSLR, the same lighting, and the same print quality you get walking in off the street. So before you put down a deposit, go stand in one. Take a strip home. See exactly what your guests will be holding.

No other rental company in this market can offer that, and once you have seen the print quality in person, the decision usually makes itself.

Events we cover

Weddings

Receptions, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners. Custom strips with your names and date, and an attendant who keeps the line moving so the booth never becomes a bottleneck during dinner.

Corporate events

Holiday parties, product launches, conferences, and team offsites. Strips branded with your logo become the thing people actually keep instead of another tote bag.

College & university events

Formals, club events, orientation weeks, and homecoming. We work with student organizations across BU, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, Emerson, Berklee, and Tufts, and we know how campus purchasing and invoicing works.

Birthdays & private parties

Sweet sixteens, milestone birthdays, graduations, and backyard parties. Kid-friendly props and an attendant who is comfortable running a booth full of eight-year-olds.

Holiday parties

December books out first every year. If you are planning a company holiday party, reach out in September or October rather than waiting.

Bar and bat mitzvahs

High-energy events where the booth runs nonstop. Unlimited sessions matter here more than anywhere else, and we staff accordingly.

Common questions

How much does a photo booth cost in Boston?

Our packages start at $600 for two hours and run to $1,320 for a four-hour wedding or corporate booking. Additional hours are $300 to $350 depending on the package. Across the Boston market you will generally see $500 to $1,800 for a comparable rental. Be careful with quotes well under that range, because they usually mean a tablet-based booth rather than a real DSLR camera, or no attendant on site.

How much space does the booth need?

Plan for roughly a 10 foot by 10 foot area, with about 8 feet of ceiling clearance. We can work in tighter spots, so tell us your constraints and we will let you know honestly whether it will fit before you book.

Do you need power?

Yes, one standard outlet within about 25 feet of the setup. For outdoor events without nearby power, let us know early so we can plan around it.

How long does setup take?

About an hour before your start time and roughly 30 minutes to pack out. Setup and teardown are not counted against your booked hours, so a two-hour booking means two full hours of guests using the booth.

Is an attendant included?

Always. Every package includes a trained on-site attendant for the full booking. They run the booth, help guests with props and framing, keep the line moving, and troubleshoot anything that comes up. We do not do drop-off rentals.

Can you brand the photo strips with our logo or names?

Yes, and it is included rather than an upsell. Weddings usually get names and a date, corporate events get a logo, and college events get club or school branding. We collect the artwork after you book.

Do guests get digital copies?

Yes. Every session generates a QR code that gives guests instant access to their photos, including animated GIFs, alongside the physical print they take home.

How far in advance should we book?

For weddings, three to six months is comfortable. For December holiday parties, book by October, because that month fills first every year. For campus events, two to four weeks is usually fine outside of formal season. If your date is close, ask anyway, since we sometimes have availability.

Can we see the booth before booking?

Please do. Walk into our Newbury Street or Harvard Square store any day we are open, use the booth, and take a strip home. It is the same equipment we bring to your event. No appointment needed.

What happens if something breaks during our event?

Our attendant is on site the whole time and carries backup supplies. In the rare case of a hardware failure we cannot fix on the spot, we make it right, and we will talk you through exactly what that means before you sign anything.

Do you take purchase orders or invoices from schools?

Yes. We work with campus organizations regularly and are set up for university purchasing processes, including invoicing and direct payment rather than a card at checkout. Mention it when you reach out and we will route it correctly from the start.

Tell us about your event and we will come back with pricing and availability, usually the same day. Only the essentials are required, so if you do not have a venue locked in yet, that is fine.

Prefer to talk it through?

Call or text John, our events manager. He runs the quotes and works the events, so you are talking to the person who will actually be there.
